Service

We take seriously Jesus’ commandment to Love God and to Love our Neighbors. First Christian Church has a deep history of working alongside our community to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, and give rest to the weary. Here are a few ways we serve:

Thrift Store

First Christian Church hosts a Thrift Store in the basement of our church. We are open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9am-2pm. This fun ministry made up of volunteers benefits the entire community. We are always in need of volunteers who can spend a few hours helping us at the Thrift Store. You can find more information and keep up to date on changes in our hours of operation on the Thrift Store Facebook Page.

Lunch Together/Soup Kitchen

Lunch Together is an ecumenical ministry of nine congregations serving lunch five days a week. Hosted by First Congregational Church (100 West Works Street, Sheridan, WY 82801). Lunches are provided Monday-Friday from 12pm-12:45pm.

Heritage Towers

In the 1970’s, First Christian Church felt a calling to care for seniors who needed more affordable housing. After a community study was completed, we applied for a grant from HUD to construct a building for senior living. Thus, Heritage Towers of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was born. In 1979, the building was completed beside Big Goose Creek, and residents moved into their new homes in 1980. Today, we serve 75 homes at Heritage Towers.
